preppy argyle

Argyle nails!  So preppy.  They look like golf pants!
This was my first attempt at argyle so they are far from perfect.  This paint job takes a while.  Each layer has to be totally dry before continuing.  Start with the base color (1-3 coats depending on coverage).  Let dry.  Paint on the diamonds.  I used three colors but this could be done with one or two.  Let dry.  Paint on the over stripes.  Let dry.

Some tips/tricks I will use next time I try this paint job:
*use a sharpie to do the over stripes, it will help make perfect stripes
*take time to do each step
*use a dotting tool to dot on the four corners of the diamonds, will help alignment and spacing

teal tips

Super short nails can still rock a colored tip.  It gives the illusion of a longer nail.  Such an easy look.  No extra brushes needed.  Just do the base colors.  Let dry and a quick swipe of the opposite color just on the tips.  Done.  Yes, the lines are not perfectly straight but it still works.

may polish days - the number five

This month's 'Polish Days' challenge theme is 'the number five'.  Such a great theme or jumping off point.  Cinco de Mayo? Five fingers? The Count from Sesame Street? Five colors/flavors of Life Savers? Skittles candy (skittle paint job)?  I wanted to do domino's nails.  No, not the pizza but the game.  Put I just wasn't feeling a black and white paint job (but this idea will be used soon).

nautical nails

I finally got my nautical stamps!!!  Even though I picked up some great new polishes, I knew I had to do something with the nautical theme.  Plus, I wanted to use the new metal studs.  Nautical theme it would be.  Overall, I think this paint job could be better but I was just having fun.  I loved how the middle finger (the stamped ones) turned out.  I also love the look of the studs.  I need to work more on them being straight in line.  I do love the white, silver and blue.  This blue is a bit more mellow than the blue I was going to use (it was closer to m&m blue).
